An engineered oak skirting board – a durable, cost-effective finishing touch that adds style and protection to any room.

Skirting is an essential, functional interior design element. Engineered oak skirting is made from layers of natural wood glued together in a cross-grain pattern, giving added strength and durability. It is also more stable and less prone to warping or shrinking from changes in moisture or temperature. A prime-grade oak front surface keeps every length very consistent in colour.

The oak comes from selected European mills, which ensures quality and colour consistency and supports the responsible management of the world's forests.

Finish & Care

It is essential to finish and protect natural oak skirting. A clear varnish or oil enhances the natural beauty of the wood and adds a protective layer against moisture and wear. Sand the skirting first for a smooth surface, then apply the varnish or oil in thin, even coats with a brush or cloth, allowing each coat to dry completely before the next. With proper care and maintenance, your oak skirting will last for many years.

Installation

  • Measure the length of the wall and cut the skirting to size with a saw.
  • Apply adhesive to the back of the skirting and press it firmly into place against the wall.
  • Secure with nails or screws, countersinking them and filling the holes with wood filler or oak cross-grain dowel screw plugs.
  • Finish and protect with clear varnish or oil as described above for a professional-looking result that lasts for years.

While you can install skirting yourself, hiring a professional fitter is often recommended.

Please Note

Important: we recommend varnishing or oiling the back and all edges of the skirting. This makes it more stable and less prone to warping or shrinking due to changes in moisture or temperature.
